I used to be able to export the preview at a sensible size without any cropping of the images such as border radius, however, now, for some absolutely wild reason it includes the border radius….. this is a massive pain in the ass and requires a lot of efforts to export now when it was so simple. The alternative is we download the original which then comes out at 5MB and requires resizing.

Image preview including crop radius - not good

Is there a solution to this? This has recently been happening on newer Figma files. Same designers, same issue on new files.

Hey @jshuk, thanks for reaching out!

We haven’t made any recent changes to exporting. Figma exports can result in large file sizes when using high-resolution images. Are any of the images you’ve been using lately been larger and/or a higher resolution?

To reduce file size, you can try using plugins to compress the image, downscale large fills, or exporting as a JPG with reduced quality. Breaking down large files into smaller ones can also help manage the export process.

Also, from your screenshot, under the Appearance section of the Design tab, you have a Mixed corner radius applied to the layer, which is why it is being displayed in the preview.

Hope this helps explain, but please let us know if you continue to have issues. We can escalate this to our technical quality team to take a deeper dive with you.
