why does applying auto layout on multiple text boxes CHANGE the text box dimensions now? WHY?

what has FIGMA done? what happened to NOT CHANGING textbox dimensions when applying auto layout to a selection of text boxes?

I just tried to repro, and I am seeing the same as you. I’ve flagged this over to the Auto Layout team to advise. But from first glance, the text box changes seem to simply be due to the auto settings applied when adding Auto layout.

Adding auto layout defaults to W: Hug and H: Hug. Because of that, the text box auto-hugs the text, which would be expected, if you wanted to set Auto layout to Hug its contents.
