My Figma was automatically updated to the new UI, and I can no longer find the Create/Apply Variables option under Appearance. I'm trying to create a component within another component, but I'm not sure where this feature has been moved in the new interface. Please helpp!

Hi @emilylee123, thanks for reaching out!

With the new UI, the entry point to the variables modal has moved. To Create a variable, click the new Assets icon in the left navigation bar then click the toggle icon next to Variables in the Design panel. This should then show this pop up:

Hi @djv , thanks for your reply! However, I’m not looking to create variables across the whole file. What I’m trying to do is create component property and apply a boolean property to an existing component itself, so that when I select the component, I can see a toggle to show or hide certain elements.

Thanks for the screenshot and for clarifying that you’re actually looking for component properties, @emilylee123. If you select your component layer, you’ll see properties at the top of the right side panel:

Click on the + button shown in my screenshot and you can create properties, including a Boolean property like you need. Let me know if you have any questions!
