I tried to find all icons in a few ways:

  1. select all with the same properties didn’t select all icons although they had the same properties.
  2. I don’t have the option of the library analytics.
  3. I found all icons with ctrl f and writing the name of the icon so it found all icons but it still didn’t show their properties. some of them don’t have the same height and width

    please help me
    Thanks!

Hey @avivit al I hear you, so Figma’s baked in quick menu Select action is pretty good for some things like properties and typesBut for selecting all icons and then filtering out the ones that don’t have the right size isn’t something that can be do natively with Figma’s current capabilities.

In which case, you can achieve what you’re looking to do by using a plugin such as Similayer. With that plugin you can do the following:

  1. Select all your icons
  • 🕹Tip: Instead of selecting one by one by the name, I’d recommend prefixing your icons at the component level (in your DS) with something like [Icon], e.g. [Icon] chevron-down, that way when you search for your icons you can just put that [Icon] string in the search query.
Selecting all Icons w/ [Icon] prefix

  1. Run Similayer & Search for Size in the search bar on the left.
  • This filters the selection set to view all the size properties for what’s selected.
Using Similayer plugin to view different size properties on selection
  1. Click on the little search icon to the left of the Size label.

  2. Search for 24 x 24 and click on the enabled Select layers CTA at the bottom ; this way you can scope down your selection to just icons at 24px.
    • From here you can either lock, hide, or move the icons and make edits to your incorrectly sized icons.
    • I don’t know if these icons your mentioning are components in your design system, or in a file already nested in other components but something along these lines should work for you.
    • But just in case, Ideally we’re talking about icons at the primitive level here, much better outcomes if you’re using a design system.

Fwiw, Plugins are a good way to do things that Figma would not normally be able to do, so definitely check them out for other things that may come up in the future. Best of luck @avivit al, lmk if this helps!

@avivit al I had the same issue and here is what I did and what I would suggest you:

  • wrap your icon instance in a frame and make that frame a component "ds-icon"
  • Add a mask so you can manage the tint of the component directly and not the icon - this eliminates any icon colors issues (this is optional but highly recommended)

  • Select your icon instance and make it into a property instance

  • Change all your icons with the new component (you will have to do it once but I promise it is worth it for the scalability of your project)

Like this you will use the component ds-icon for all your icons (the icons will be instances), and everytime you will need to select all the icons you will just have to find and select "ds-icon"
