I’m trying to add a video as a background in Figma Sites. The video previews in the fill window (see screenshot) however it does not play when I preview the whole site.

Hey @55Will , Celine from Figma here!
Figma Sites doesn’t currently support native video uploads. So, if you try to upload a video as a fill, it will not playback in the Preview view and you will see an issue flagged on attempting to publish the Sites file indicating that your file contains an unsupported fill.

To add a video, we recommend using a YouTube embed, or the generic URL or HTML embed if your video is hosted on a different platform.

You can learn more on how to use these feature in our Help Center article here: Insert blocks, embeds, webpages, and design libraries into a site.

Hope this clarifies!

Could I upload a GIF into Figma sites?
It doesn’t show up when I publish the site.

Hi @Bhooma Srirangarajan, thanks for reaching out!

You should be able to upload a GIF into Figma Sites. Keep in mind, that issues can occur when a GIF exceeds our size limits.

Right now, Figma only supports GIFs up to 50 megapixels, calculated as: (width × height × number of frames) / 1,000,000 ≤ 50

If your GIF is over that limit, try reducing its size and uploading again.

Hope this helps!
