Hi,

I have lost my most recent and the most important file on Figma and I can’t find the file in any of my projects section or in the deleted section. It just disappeared completely.

I am the sole owner and editer for that file.

It wasn’t a file in a team and it wasn’t in the deleted section either. I didn’t delete the file. I think maybe a bug in the “drafts to move” update on Figma, which I clicked a few days/weeks ago. Today when I launched my figma, it briefly told me the file transfer is still in progress? but then there’s nothing. And I have checked my emails to see if there are any teams deleted and nothing there too. Can the backend see or have the names of all the design files I created, deleted or moved somewhere. Maybe that can help what happened to the file. Again, it was my most recent created and edited file.

I really needed that file, it contains all my works from my last company that laid me off a few months ago. Please help.

And there’s no “drafts to move” on the sidebar for me! there used to be when this new “move draft” thing appeared, and there were many, but all of them are nowhere to be found, and there’s no “drafts to move” tab for me anymore. If the update caused my most important files to go missing, that would be unacceptable and catastrophic for me. I would do anything to get those files back, please help!

I dont have the link of my most recent files - it was last edited on Feb 2025, and I never thought the files i have on figma so recently could have gone missing. What can I provide to get them back?? They are big files with my most important works and documents that I no longer have access to.

I understand you've lost access to your important file.

 

I see you've already submitted a request to our support team about this, and they're currently working on it. Please keep an eye out for their direct reply.

While you're waiting for our specialist to get back to you, could you please double-check a few more places to make sure we cover all bases?

Since it looks like you have access to several teams, please switch between each team in your file browser and check these locations:

  • Trash
  • Drafts

You also mentioned not having the file's URL. You might be able to retrieve it from:

  • Your web browser's history.
  • The 'File > Recently Closed' menu if you're using the desktop app.

If you can't find the URL, even just the name of the file would be helpful.

Once you've checked these areas, please reply to the support ticket email to let them know what you found.

I think I managed to find the url: https://www.figma.com/design/5vObCf1x0UHr7YClKlXc4Y/JW?t=VZGxqoOdhrMnrB3A-0
and once i clicked it asks me to get approval - even though I am the owner that logged in with the right email address (please see the attached screenshot), could you please help me with it?

I double checked all team’s drafts and deleted, the File is not there. The name of the file is “JW” I believe
