I am trying out the new MCP server, which is awesome news btw. The first thing I tried to use it for was to pull variables from some design files into my codebases and it doesn’t seem to support modes at all. I can seemingly get almost every other thing out of the file but not the variable modes.
Am I missing something? Variables seem to me to be the most obvious thing you want to translate directly from Figma to your codebase.

Yeah, I also tried that, and I think right now MCP only works with selected frame elements. For example, for colors: I created several boxes and applied color variables to them. When I select that frame, the MCP server can read the color variable data. But I wish it could read my entire color system, as well as text and effect styles unfortunately, that’s not happening at the moment
