Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to learn from others’ experiences with Figma’s licensing and billing model.
Recently, Figma identified 6 additional seats in our organization based on what they say is our approvals data. Unfortunately, we had mistakenly approved those licenses, and only afterward realized the impact: the added seats represent a significant cost increase (thousands of dollars) for our org.
What’s been frustrating is that:
- We don’t have full clarity on how Figma determined the need for these seats
- We don’t actually need these additional licenses going forward
- Despite this, we’ve been told we can’t cancel them and would be charged for the next three quarters of usage
From our perspective, this feels unfair — especially since the approval was unintentional and the licenses won’t be used.
I wanted to ask:
- Has anyone else run into a similar situation?
- Were you able to negotiate, reduce seats, or get an exception?
- Any advice on how to approach this with Figma in a more effective way?
Appreciate any insights or shared experiences. Thanks in advance.
