Unable to see the color varibale thumbnails on right panel

I'm experiencing a problem with my published design system in Figma. Although the system file containing components and variables has been successfully published and linked to other files, the color variables aren't showing up correctly in the list or grid views. I've already tried re-publishing the file, re-linking the library, checking for naming conflicts, confirming styles are properly defined and published, and clearing the Figma cache. Despite these efforts, the issue persists, which undermines the purpose of a centralized design system. Has anyone encountered this before or found a reliable workaround?

Thanks

Hi @Sagar Sutar,

I understand you’re experiencing an issue where your color variable thumbnails aren’t rendering properly.

In some past cases, we’ve seen similar issues caused by network settings blocking these variable thumbnails from loading.

Could you please try connecting to Figma from a different network — for example, a mobile hotspot — to see if the issue persists?
Alternatively, you could test on a different system environment, such as your personal computer at home.

If you’re able to see the color previews when using a different network or computer, it’s likely that something in your network environment is blocking the connection to Figma.
In that case, please reach out to your IT team and ask them to confirm that Figma is fully allowed in your environment, as detailed here: Adjust your network settings

If the issue continues, I recommend reaching out to our Support team via this secure form.

When you submit the form, please include the following:

  • The URL of both the library file and the file where you’re seeing the issue, and add support-share@figma.com as an Editor (this won’t affect your billing)

  • The console logs after reproducing the behavior (Export console logs)

  • The URL of this forum post for context

With this information, our team can take a closer look at the issue more effectively.

Thanks!

This is a known Figma issue where color variables sometimes don’t appear correctly even after publishing and linking. Try fully unlinking and relinking the library, duplicating the color variables with new names, and checking that none are marked as private or local. If the problem persists, contact Figma Support with file details, as it may be a bug on their end.

@Junko3 , @donixo - Thanks for your prompt reply. As per your instructions, tried with mobile hotspots networks, but still same issue.

Hi @Sagar Sutar, thanks for following up and apologies for the delayed reply!

Are you still experiencing this issue? If so, have you tried @donixo’s other suggestions yet?

Again, please try fully unlinking and relinking your library, duplicating color variables with new names, and check that none are marked as private or local.
Let us know how that goes!

Thanks for clarifying that you’ve also tried those suggestions, @Sagar Sutar

Are you able to share your Library file and the file where this issue is occurring with our support team here? https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

The team can take a closer look at what may be happening on the backend.

@djv - Let me check with management team whether I can share the library file.

Let me know that do you need .fig file or I can share the Figma link?
