Unable to publish figma make - suspecting timeout in publishing

I have successfully published my Figma Make before, but I went bananas and created a whole app in figma make. After 400 iterations, my project size is probably pretty large. Whenever I try to publish, it thinks for a long while before its saying that it has failed. I’ve also tried to look through other threads here to see what the common issues are but to no avail.

To some extent ive tried to optimize the files using prompts, but sometimes it just destroys my app completely and I have to revert.

Any ideas?

Hello everyone — thanks for flagging this, and sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve been running into with Figma Make.

A couple of quick updates to share:

First, @Hugo L Falk — I can see that you have a case open with our Product Support team, and they’re actively reviewing the details you shared. While I’m not able to access or discuss file- or account-specific information here, I’ve passed along the context from this thread so they have the full picture as they follow up. They’ll reach out directly to you with next steps at the email address associated with your Figma account. You can keep an eye out for updates to case: 1715079.

Second, there was a fix released yesterday related to publishing issues in Figma Make. When you have a moment, could you try refreshing the tab you’re working in and then attempt prompting and publishing again?

Thanks again for taking the time to report this here — and please let us know whether things have improved within the last day.

If you are seeing something like this close to the publish button ‘Update attempt was unsuccessful’ then you are not alone. It keeps failing to publish. I started experiencing this since yesterday. That’s why I came here to look for a solution, but it seems it’s general for now.

Yeah “Publish attempt was unsuccessful”. Very annoying as I got half a working prototype now that I am not able to fully demo or use for user testing. Any news that Figma knows that this is an issue?

Ugh, publishing timeouts are the worst! Sometimes it helps just to save locally, close the file, and try again — but hopefully Figma improves stability here soon.

Hi!  Great, it seems to actually publish correctly now, both by big file and my optimized file seem to be fully publishable now!

Hi @Jayman99 and @Blessing — thanks for flagging this, and sorry to hear it cropped up again. I checked in and can confirm there was an issue that resurfaced, but it’s now been resolved.

For more details, you can see the updates on our Status Page here: Figma Make Publishing Disruption.

When you have a moment, could you try publishing again and let me know if everything’s working as expected now?
