Unable to enter a price when submitting a paid plugin

I’m currently going through the submission process for a plugin I developed, which I plan to sell as a paid plugin.

I would like to enter the price, but the price field is grayed out and I’m unable to enter an amount. I can select the payment type, however.

I read the official documentation and understand that I need to activate a Stripe account. However, the documentation says:

“After you’ve been approved to sell on Community, you must activate your Stripe account before you can publish paid resources. You will receive an email inviting you to activate your Stripe account. A banner will also display on the Figma Community with the same prompt.”

Does this mean that I should submit the plugin without entering a price by clicking the Publish button?

I’m concerned that if I publish it without setting a price, the plugin might be submitted or published as a free plugin.

Will the plugin still be submitted as a paid plugin even if I don’t enter the price at this stage, with the price being set after I’m approved to sell?

I would appreciate any clarification. Thank you!

Hey @ay07, welcome to Figma Forum, and thanks for the detail here.

The "approved to sell on Community" line you quoted refers to paid files, not plugins. Selling plugins is open to anyone who can set up a Stripe account in a supported country. A similar question came up in this thread, which may be useful context: How do I become an approved seller for paid plugins?

The price field usually stays locked until that Stripe account is active. To get there, go to your Community profile, click the ... (more actions) button, and open Monetization insights.

Two things before you publish:

  • Do you see Monetization insights in that menu?
  • Which country would you be setting up Stripe in?

I'd hold off on publishing until the price field opens up. I don't want to guess at how a submission behaves without a price set — let me confirm that and come back to you.

@Tom Reem ,Thanks for your reply!

  1. I don’t see “Monetization insights” in my profile menu.

  2. I would be setting up Stripe in Japan.

I also checked the official documentation, which says:

“Click the prompt to be redirected to the Metrics tab on your Community profile.”

However, I don’t see any prompt or banner on my Community profile, and I also can’t find the Metrics tab.

Could you please let me know how I can access the Stripe setup in this situation?

Thank you for your help!

@Tom Reem , Thank you for your help!

I took another look and found “Monetization insights” in my profile. I was able to set up my Stripe account successfully.

The price field on the plugin submission page is also now available, so I can enter the price.

Thank you so much for your guidance. I really appreciate your help!
