I am having trouble with a PDF file exported from Figma. I created it using a 1080:1920 aspect ratio. The file size is 13 MB, but Adobe Reader and web browsers struggle to open it. I have tried adjusting the settings to lower the quality, but the file remains difficult to open.

Hi! This issue is likely related to the PDF content rather than the file size itself. A 13 MB PDF should normally open without any problems.

A few things to check:

  • Make sure the design doesn't contain very high-resolution images or large transparent PNGs.

  • Reduce or flatten complex effects such as blurs, shadows, masks, and transparency, as these can make PDFs difficult to render.

  • If you're using complex vector graphics, try simplifying or flattening them where possible.

  • As a test, export the frame as a PNG first and then convert it to a PDF. If that version opens normally,, the issue is likely with the Figma PDF export rather than the design itself.

  • You could also try re-saving the PDF using Adobe Acrobat or another PDF optimizer to see if that improves compatibility.

Could you let me know whether the PDF contains mostly images or mostly vector elements? Also, is this a single-page PDF or a multi-page document? That will help narrow down the cause.
