Hello.

We’re having issues with text glitches. Some random characters are showing small glitches. Random because it’s an unpredictable inconsistency depending on who knows what - size, settings etc? Sometimes making a small adjustment like character space or vertical trim resolves the glitch, sometimes not. There appears to be no consistency with the issue and no catch-all solution, so it makes for a very impractical situation when using the font at scale.

The font in question is Adobe Clean - it is activated via Universal Type Client at our company. They’ve tried removing and reloading, in fact we’ve been through all the suggested solutions inc “Recompute Text Layout in Selection” and “Regenerate All Instances (Slow)”, and toggling all settings in Type Settings > Detail. Some things work in some situations but it’s too random to be practical. The issue also remains when exporting content with the problematic text.

Two examples attached. Any help or advice welcome.

Is it still happening? I saw a bug with a font in the past days, too, but it disappeared by itself.

Hi @Alex Darbyshire

Thanks for flagging this issue. I think the best approach would be to reach out to our support team: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

In the meantime, I have a possible troubleshooting suggestion. It might be worth checking if the font is being managed by both Font Book and Universal Type Client simultaneously, as this dual management could be causing the inconsistent behavior you're experiencing.

If possible, try using just Font Book - you can install the font via Font Book as described in this article: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039956894-Add-a-font-to-Figma-Design

Thanks,

Toku

Thank you @y_toku and @giliard

I’ve now contacted the support team.

Use of Font Book is restricted, everything is centrally controlled via UTC so there’s no clash as you suggested.

But I also tried using Font Book on my personal machine, and the problem persisted.

FYI Adobe is a client so it’s a full and correct version of the font family.

Hoping the support team can help, or if anyone can offer a solution.

Thanks, Alex

Hi everyone, I’m Celine, working closely with Toku.

I wanted to share an update for visibility. Our technical and engineering teams have looked into the issue further and responded to @Alex Darbyshire directly.

To summarize: this is a known bug that our engineering team has been aware of for some time. While we don’t have an ETA for a fix at the moment, please know that the impact on your workflow is fully understood.

We’re actively advocating for this to be prioritized internally and have shared this thread to our internal team.
Thanks for your patience!
