Question

Running a prototype changes font weight!

When I design a presentation on Figma (as a prototype), I add the correct weight for each font (Regular, Medium, Bold, Italic) - when I present it, some of the texts’ font weight revert to Regular.

Does anyone else have a similar issue? Know of any solutions so that the font weight won’t change when running a protoype? Thanks 🙂

I’d prefer to not have an individual support ticket for this, as it appears to be a common bug. I would just like to know when it is resolved.

Hi @Janne_T,

Thank you for providing these detailed insights— I completely understand how frustrating it must be to have your design vision compromised by unexpected font changes.

I’ve created a support ticket for you, #1163542, so our team can investigate what might be causing this issue.
Typically, our support team replies within 24 hours, though there may be a slight delay due to increased contact volume right now. We’ll do everything we can to get this resolved quickly.

Thank you for your patience!

Hi @Lisa_Morellini, thank you for sharing your thoughts—I completely understand preferring not to open individual support tickets when an issue seems widespread. However, to help our team confirm the specifics of this bug and work toward a resolution, they do need additional details from you. I checked your ticket (#1160071), and it appears they’re awaiting some follow-up information to dig deeper into this issue.

While we recognize this may be affecting multiple users, your insights could really help the team pinpoint the cause more effectively. If you’re able to provide the requested details, it’ll be a big step toward resolving this for everyone experiencing it.

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation as we work through this!

Hey everyone! I’d love to help get to the bottom of this. None of the previous users experiencing this issue followed up on their support tickets, so we’re still missing some key details to fully understand what might be causing it.
It would be really helpful if you could provide more information about what’s happening on your end:

  • Does this happen in both the desktop app and the browser, or just one?
  • Have you tried clearing the cache? This can sometimes resolve unexpected issues.
  • When running your prototype, does switching to full Present mode (instead of Preview) make any difference?
  • Are you using any custom fonts, and if so, do you see any missing font warnings?
  • Are variables being used in your prototype?

If possible, sharing a screen recording of what you’re experiencing would be really helpful for us to investigate further.

  • clearing cache in dev tools and refreshing has worked for me but just temporarily. next time i go to prototype link, it’s all bolded again
  • happens in browser
  • no difference if full screen or preview mode
  • we use custom fonts, but no warnings
  • we use font variables

Hey @Monika Pawlak, thank you for trying out these troubleshooting steps!

To help narrow this down, could you try testing the prototype in a different browser? Figma supports Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, so it’d be helpful to see if the issue persists across multiple browsers. If possible, could you also check if the same thing happens in the desktop app?

If the problem continues, I can escalate this to our technical quality team to take a closer look. Let me know what you find, and I’ll be happy to help further!

Hi,

I'm experiencing the same issue on the desktop app. Sometimes, I can fix it by duplicating my frame and deleting the old one, but it doesn't always work. Additionally, if it occasionally fixes the issue, but I open the slideshow (desktop app) from another computer, the problem persists on that machine.
