Question about triggering play/pause video in a prototype

I’ve built a hero component with an autoplaying background video. It has a button in the bottom corner that needs to be able to play/pause the video on click. My problem is that when i try to select the video, it’s greyed out and not selectable.

Anyone know why this is and if there’s a way around it? TIA.
