I can’t work in the app anymore. Only browser version works but doesn’t allow me to open the desktop app. The “Open the desktop app” button isn’t active

this worked for me, even after turning it back on

Its not working with Safari, I will not change my default browser.

A workaround: Copy the link and use “Open File URL from Clipboard” in the main menu - file.

Could the people in Figma help with this problem?

It’s a seriously frustrating issue that started happening since update 124.3.2.

My company has some security software (Netskope) that was causing Figma to break. I disabled that software, reinstalled Figma, reenabled the security software, and now all is working.

Turning iCloud Private Relaytemporarily off seems to create the connection between the browser and desktop Figma. Refresh both Safari and desktop Figma, and then you can turn Private Relay back on and it seems to work fine. Finally resolved.

I’ve tried all of the above and sadly still not working. I’ve disabled all content blockers, turned off all browser extensions, etc. Cleared caches in both browser and Figma app, rebooted, signed back in, have tried completely uninstalling the Figma app, etc… no go.

2025, not working. Why does this happen almost everytime I update the app

I have tried everything mentioned, and it still doesn't work. After attempting to return from the browser to the desktop application, it finally displays the message 'Your session has expired.' What kind of support leaves an issue unresolved and unanswered for two years?

This is now happening for me all of a sudden. No changes to software that I know of.

MacOS 14.7.1. I’ve re-installed, rebooted, cleared caches, checked for the agent, all the tips above. Still can’t get the web version to realise the desktop app is running. All links now open in the web which is very annoying and breaks my workflow hundreds of times a day.

How is this marked as “Resolved” when so many people still complain about this?
