The end result can be the same as with autolayout, but any time you will need to add or change something to your design you will need to do it manually instead of having auto layout do it automatically for you.

Designs always evolve, and you will need to change them. Auto layout make it so changes don’t take as much time because you’re not trying to align everything perfectly everytime a new icon is added, or the text is changed.

Ok so it’s the process and the time it takes that is the issue. That is it more efficient.

Auto layout is also helpful building responsive and interactive components for prototypes like accordions, which can expand or collapse content, etc.
