When I make a component with two objects, I apply Absolute Positioning to one of the objects. When I try to move the object with the mouse, the object removes itself from the component and becomes its own object. The only way I can get it to work is use the arrow keys to position the object. Any ideas?
Were you able to find a solution for this issue?
I need an answer to this too 😞 it’s so annoying.
Hi there, Thank you for bringing our attention to this!
I’ve tried to reproduce the problem, but haven’t had any success yet. Even if you move an object with ignore auto layout/absolute position using the mouse, the object remains nested within the frame with auto layout, as long as it remains within the frame.
Have you attempted using both the desktop application and the browser? If you have, have you observed any difference? Could you please attempt this quick fix to see if it’s resolve?:
- Close any Figma tabs you’re not using
- Browser: Force-quit and open Figma in a new browser window.
- Desktop App: Force-quit the Figma Desktop app and restart it.
Additionally, I suggest clearing your cache in either the app or browser to see if it improves the situation.
If the issue still persists, please share a recording demonstrating the issue you are facing. Make sure to include the whole window, with the properties and layers panels visible. Expand the relevant layer and select the layers you are having trouble with.
If anyone from our community has any suggestions or insights, please let us know.
Thanks!
