Hi guys!
I’m working on an app where at the last minute the font was changed. It was easy to swap… only the new font (Cooper Hewitt) has a wildly different vertical placement in the bounding box. See how it aligns close to the top:

For the app launch for dev this was a relatively easy solve, as you can adjust the vertical alignment. But moving forward with the project I could really do with the Figma designs not all looking misaligned!
Vertical trim seems the only option. But the paddings within my components were based off of the previous untrimmed font. Which means I would need new spacing measurements, which is bad as then the devs would need to redo all those, or ignore my new measurements. Not great outcomes for a continuing project.
I’ve been considering using a font editor to manually adjust the vertical metrics solely for use in Figma. I don’t know whether that’s legal or possible!
Has anyone had a similar experience? Or do you guys have suggestions on how you would handle this conundrum?
Many thanks!
