One of my design files is missing, and this file is very important to me since it contains all my design work. I am the only file owner, and I didn’t delete my file. I recently tried to access it through my browsing history, but it now says I need to request access. Could you please help me check if the file still exists or if there’s a way to restore my access? This is really important for me.

Hey @Lilywang0108 — welcome to the Figma Forum, and thank you for reaching out. I know how stressful it can feel when a design file goes missing, so let’s see what we can do to help you locate it.

If you didn’t delete the file yourself, it’s possible that something changed with your permissions or account access — for example, the file was moved by someone else or you’re logged into a different Figma account than usual.

I can’t access and share out account specifics in our online forums, but here are a few things you can check right away:

  1. For good measure, check your Trash folder.
If the file was deleted, you can restore it by following these steps: Delete and restore files → Restore files from the trash.
  2. Confirm with collaborators.
If you shared the file with others, it may have been moved to another project or team by someone with edit access. A quick check-in with them could clarify where it went.
  3. Double-check your login.
Make sure you’re signed into the correct Figma account. You can easily switch accounts by following these steps: Switch between accounts.

If you still haven’t found it after giving those a try, it also looks like you have a case open with our Product Support team — great move. They are reviewing your information and will follow up directly via the email linked to your account (case: 1569586).

You’re doing all the right things here — I know it’s tough waiting, but you’re in good hands. Please keep an eye on your inbox for their update, and feel free to reply here if you have any new details or questions in the meantime.

I received a very general response suggesting that I delete the file so I could find it in the trash. However, I’ve mentioned several times that I did not delete it and it is not in the trash. After I replied quickly to clarify, I didn’t receive any further response. I don’t mean to interrupt, but this file is very important because it contains key design work that I need to show in an upcoming interview. I would really appreciate it if this could be reviewed and resolved as soon as possible. Could someone please make my ticket a priority?
