Modes in slot not working as expected

Hi, I'm trying to build a list component with slots, and I want to control the items' size from the parent element so that all items are consistent and container logic can be applied.

So I've connected the variables on the size for each building block inside the item (icon, title, description...) then I applied the size mode on the parent frame (list compoent)

It works well when I change the mode directly, but it resets the content when using the variants. What did I do wrong?

I know one solution may be to remove the variants and use the modes directly, but I'd really like to keep the property more visible and easier to track in library analytics.
