I set up an MCP server in cursor to try to move designs from Figma to Cursor. I followed the set up instruction from Figma exactly. I see a green badge with 6 tools and 3 prompts enabled in Cursor.
I see a green enabled badge in the MCP section of dev mode in Figma.
And yet… my cursor agent can’t grab designs from Figma. Keeps getting a tool not found error. I am on a regular paid plan.

Update. I started a new cursor project and now the agent CAN access my file… but only screenshots of my selected frame, and not any actual code. Is this how MCP servers are supposed to work. They give you agent access to screenshots? Not the actual CSS code making up the frame?
Here’s what the agent is telling me in Cursor. Sounds like I should be able to send Cursor generated code but it’s not working.

But I guess you have to set up some kind of code connect situation in order to be able to pull more than just screenshots into cursor.
Really finicky to make this work so far. Will probably get better but so far the process for using MCP the way it’s described is super confusing.
