When attempting to use the MCP server to retrieve design tokens, get_variable_defs seems to return the final resolved value and not the alias in some cases. I want to confirm that's intended behavior.
We were hoping to be able to rely on the MCP server to help generate components without having to pay a 3rd party like Locofy or Tokens Studio, but if we don't get aliases we can't handle mapping semantic tokens to primitive tokens to centrally manage them. We will likely have to look into export-based approaches or perhaps the API.
Can you confirm or deny...and also do you have any notes on best practices for doing something like this?
