Make changes to styles organizing in branch then merge

Hello community,

Me and my team are new to working with branches and we are working on improving how our styles are organized in our design system file. I am wondering about how Figma behaves when styles are reorganized in a branch and then the branch is merged into the main branch.

Many of our styles have variables encapsulated within some of their parameters. We are also going to find out how Figma behaves with that kind of situation. 

So, can a branch file's styles organization changes be merged into a main branch?

If anyone has had experience with doing this and is willing to share some of their experience that would be greatly appreciated.
