I created a file and sent out a link for dev on Nov. 30th. Since then I have made updates to the file. Suddenly, the link I provide comes up empty and the file is missing. However, there are 3 copies. One is more of a starter file and the other two only show a version history of Nov. 30th and neither have the recent updates. I did not delete the original file nor make the copies, at least not that I’m aware of. I guess i’m going to edit one of the copies and go from there but would love to know how this happened. Anyone have any clue?

Hey @Jeanna - I’m sorry if this has delayed your work.

You mentioned you shared this file outwards -- did you share edit access to this file, or view only access? Are the people you shared the file with working within the same team as you are? At any time, did you transfer ownership of the file to anyone else?

Do you currently have more than 1 Figma account?

Can you check on a few things in the meantime?

  • Log out and back in with each of your Figma accounts and search for the file name directly. ← This is only if you have multiple accounts
  • Check the Recent files and Shared with you tabs to see if you can locate it.
  • Look under Drafts and Deleted files (Trash) — if the file was recently deleted and landed there -- you may be able to restore it.

If you have 2 (or more) Figma accounts, please PM me -- if you also PM me the name of the file, I can try to see if it can be located.

Thanks!
