Hi, I'm a frontend developer using Figma.
We’re facing an issue with file permissions:

One of our designers originally created a file in their personal Drafts and then transferred ownership to me. I used to have “can edit” access, but after becoming the owner, I now see the following message:

"This person's seat needs to be updated for them to be able to edit this file type."

The Share button is also disabled, and I can no longer edit the file, even though I'm the owner.

We’re currently on the Starter Plan, and since this is a company account, it's difficult for us to upgrade to a paid plan at the moment.

What options do I have to resolve this situation without upgrading to a paid plan?
Is it possible to transfer ownership back to the original designer or regain edit access in some other way?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @so_ ,

I understand you're having trouble getting edit access to someone's draft file after the ownership was transferred to you.

Could you try having someone who does have edit access to the draft file move it into a project? You can follow these steps to do that: Move a file. Once it's moved to a project, could you please check if you're able to edit the file?

If that doesn't work, would you mind sharing a link to the file with us? That way, we can take a closer look.

Thanks!
