i am new to Figma and i just want to build an interesting portfolio website. I use Figma Make from scratch and keep editing until i satisfied. However when I tried to publish the web to see the outcome in browser, it just show the very first version. Yet i could still see properly in the preview panel. Then I kept trying to press update and publish and it’s still not working. Then I remembered a option say clear like cache memory? or something like that in the chat room, i pressed it. then suddenly the preview panel refreshed, and it goes back to the first scratch version. Everything is gone. I tried to restore the previous versions, but it said it couldnt fetch the version. EVERYTHING IS GONE including my AI credits :(

Hey @dreamer, welcome to Figma Forum and thanks for your detailed write-up. Sorry to hear about the trouble — let's figure out what's recoverable here.

Clearing chat context on its own shouldn't wipe your build. That action only resets the memory of your conversation so your next prompt starts fresh — it doesn't delete your work, and your chat history normally stays in place. It's permanent, but it isn't what would send your preview back to the first version. More information here: Clear chat context in Figma Make.

The preview jumping back to the first version, plus the restore failing to fetch, both point to a version-history issue our Engineering team is working on. Rather than assume the work is lost, let's get it in front of the right team.

Next steps 👇🏻

  • On publishing showing the first version: Edits only go live after you reopen Publish and click Update. Publishing once doesn't auto-sync later changes. It's also worth confirming your plan, since publishing needs a Full seat on a paid plan. For additional details, have a look at this guide: Publish, update, or unpublish a Figma Make file.
  • On the reverted file and AI credits: Send this to our Customer Support team so we can investigate recovery and review your credit usage. To reach them, open the Support Hub → type "Report a bug" Start a chat, and share the affected file URL with support-share@figma.com with view access.

Hang tight — reply here if you run into any issues getting in touch and we'll keep an eye out.
