Might be simple answer…

When I create a new design file and then turn on a shared library is there a way to view all the available text and color styles from the shared library in the right Design panel in my new file? I don’t mean when I’m applying the styles to text or objects. I want to be able to see all the styles in the Design panel of my individual design files just like I can see them when I’m working in my library file:

My team and I have been talking about this for the past month and would love to be able to view shared library styles in the design panel.

I think this would be a quick win and super helpful instead of having to go into popovers to get to the shared styles and variables.

Use case

Many people on larger projects have their design system in one file, and separate design files for projects that share that common design system. Being able to add a shared library to the design panel view would make it easier and more productive to see and access overall variables and styles for the design system like you do with localized ones.

Feature ideas

  • If one shared library added to file - prompt the user if they’d like to use/see those library styles and variables in the design panel

  • If multiple shared libraries, be able to choose a default shared library styles to display in design panel

  • Tab the local and shared styles and variables.

  • Give a way to customize the design panel settings for styles and variables
