Hi, I’m trying to import some .fig files and am getting an “Internal error during import” message whenever I try to import them. I tried importing on both the desktop app and the browser version and get the same error each time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ah yep, that was the issue -- the files are 5GB+. Thank you!

Hey @Jaina, thanks for reaching out!
Is the filer bigger than 2GB? You may see this error when the file is bigger than 2GB. Since browsers (and even the desktop app) have an active memory limit of 2GB per tab, imports above that size might trigger the error. If that might be the case for your file, the best approach would be to split it into smaller files before importing.

If your file is under 2GB, let me know and I’ll connect you with our support team. They’ll be able to dig deeper, and with a file link they can investigate what’s causing this.

Thank you,

Gayani

Is there no solve for this though? I dont have access to the original that already in Figma to segment it? SO does that mean all my back ups are redundant?

Hey @Bach Le , Celine from Figma here, I am working closely with Gayani, happy to help! I've gone ahead and created a support ticket on your behalf sending to your email address (lexx13@gmxxx.xxm). Your case number is #1897707 for reference.

Please check your inbox and reply directly to your ticket. Make sure to share the file there so the team can take a closer look. They'll also reach out if they need any additional information. Thanks for your patience! 🙏

Just for visibility: I can see on my end that our Technical Quality team is waiting for your response for further investigation, please check your inbox when you can.
If you haven’t seen yet, the team has been able to correct the issues you were having here importing your file. This was due to some of the images in the Figma file being corrupt but our team have been able to repair this so you can now import the file to Figma.

As all the requests have been addressed here, I’ve gone ahead and closed the topic here.
For others who may encounter similar issues with files (under 2GB), please go to the Support Hub / Type “Report a bug” / Click Start a chat and select Enter / In the form, include the URL of the file and grant "Can View" access with support-share@figma.com. This allows us to reproduce the issue and investigate, thanks everyone!
