I will do my best to explain this current situation in step-by-step detail; I’m really hoping someone can provide a clear workaround to the problem ...

We hired a third-party designer via contract to create mockups for a web app our company is building; these mockups were being designed in the third-party designer’s Figma account. Several of us were given view/edit access to the files that were all being housed in a single Master File (folder?) where this third-party designer was ‘Project Owner’ …

The contract recently came to an end, so we wanted to move every single file sitting in this third-party’s Master File/Folder, to our own organization’s internal Figma account. This way, we avoid needing to access the files in this third-party’s Figma who would no longer be working with us moving forward

I believe the proper way to handle this, would’ve been for the third-party designer (Project Owner) to use the ‘Transfer’ function to transfer everything over to our own Figma that they would not be part of or have any access to

Instead, someone from our company, who had ‘Edit’ access to the Master File/Folder, selected each mockup/design file and used the ‘Move’ function (not ‘Transfer’ function) to move everything to a brand new Team that was created within our company’s Figma Org, but this did not work properly … BTW this Team that the files got moved to, was a ‘Free’ Account, and not a ‘Professional’ account

Now … the third-party designer sees NOTHING when looking inside the original Master File/Folder that was created (MAIN PROBLEM)

After we upgraded our account to ‘Professional’ we managed to see all the original files sitting in some ‘Drafts’ folder … But, this person from our company who originally had edit access and moved everything, is unable to move everything back to this third-party designer’s Master File/Folder where everything originally existed. When this person tries to select all the files in this Draft folder and move it back, that folder/team is greyed out and the person is unable to click on it, as if they don’t have access to that team/folder, which they originally DID have access to ...

So, to sum it all up, we cannot figure out how to move all the files back to its original location … we believe that is necessary, so the third-party can properly ‘Transfer’ everything over to us, while still maintaining access to the files in their own Figma
