Image vs component footprint / memory

Do you know if turning an image into a component uses less memory then using just the image when duplicating them (a lot)?

Using it as an instance from a component seems to be using memory only once. Can this be true?

Thanks

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. You may be able to decide if you use it as a component or keep it as an image depending on how you want to use the images. We generally don’t recommend images in components if you’ll be overriding it later with other images, and in that case a solid fill is best. Where you do want to include an image (like your logo) in a component, then I’d suggest you carefully optimize it to the smallest size possible. When you encounter a memory issue, this article could help! https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040528173-Reduce-memory-usage-in-files#large-files

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Toku
