That is certainly not a viable approach, and if it were, I fail to see how it would function effectively. However, what I do know is that I have 120 images that need to be created as styles in Figma. The hypothetical scenario may be absurd, but let’s assume it were real.

Here is how I would accomplish this without using plugins:

  1. Select an image.
  2. Click on Apply Styles and Variables.
  3. Click on the New Styles and Variables button.
  4. Switch to Styles (since images cannot be stored in variables) from the default Variables tab.
    (Wait—where did I saw users were forced to adopt new features? Oh, that’s right—Apple does it all the time.)
  5. Name the style and create it.

So, my question is: What would it cost us to keep Variables and Styles separate?
