Whenever I export a PDF and try to print it from Preview, the sheet of paper comes out completely blank. I can only print Figma PDFs from Adobe Acrobat—when I do, the issue doesn’t occur. But that only solves my problem, not the issue for the rest of our team, who don’t have Acrobat.

I notice a similar issue when placing the PDF in InDesign, the page also stays blank there, which makes me feel that something is wrong with the PDF itself. Is this a bug? Is there a workaround that doesn’t involve exporting as JPG/PNG?

Additional information:

  • Multiple team members have this issue, but not everybody.

  • The PDF shows the full design in Preview.

  • Printing as a JPG/PNG works fine.

  • The issue also occurs from FigJam.

Also have a similar problem here.  I have a Korean Hangul character that I’ve outlined and have as a “wash” in the background of my menu design.  Exported PDF (looks fine), but when printing it the Hangul doesn’t show up at all no matter what opacity I set it at.

Anyone figure out a solution?  If I figure out something I’ll share here as well.

I’m here for this too — same result...sent to the printer and they’re seeing an all-white file.

Same problem here. Exported frames looks fine in PDF, but it disappear when I zoom it. And is an empty page when printing.

Hi everyone, thanks for flagging this!
This does seem unusual. Since the PDF preview shows the content correctly, the issue is likely related to your printer setup or device configuration—especially  as ‘multiple team members have this issue, but not everybody’.

To start, please ensure your printer is properly connected and that you have the latest drivers installed. If you're using a network printer, you can try checking with the manufacturer for updates.

If you're still having trouble, feel free to reach out directly to the support team by filling out this form: Submit a bug report
Make sure to use your Figma email account, in the form, please include the file URL that you exported as a PDF, and describe the issue so they can take a closer look. Thank you!

I learned a little something after doing some digging around…

Everything needs to be flattened, outlined or consolidated inside of a frame — one layer that doesn’t fit this structure will break the printable PDF. Everything working for me when sending to large-format printers now that I’ve adjusted file structure to accomodate.
