Hello,

I have an educational account and I want to move the team with all projects and files to professional license account, is there a way to do that?

There are a few methods you can use to move your files to different projects and teams. For a full guide on this, please check out our Help Center:



Please note that you will need to have “Can edit” permissions on both teams to move a file or project.

I used the “Move a project” method and was able to move all of my projects from my Educational team to my Professional team, with the exception of one. I have tried to move it in the desktop & mobile apps and I have tried to transfer it, but nothing is working.

Hi there! Do you see any error message when you try to move your project?


To cover some grounds, please make sure before you can move a project to a different team, you need to:



  • Join both teams

  • Have can edit permissions in both teams

    You can check your access by navigating to each team and clicking the Members icon. Next to your name, you should see can view or can edit .


Also, please be aware that when the Move… or Move project menu items are unavailable, it may be because the project has can view permissions. You can check the permissions of your project by clicking the Share button on the project page.


A team admin or the project owner can change the permissions to can edit, which will enable the menu options to move the project.

I was part of both teams (using these same email address). Figma was telling me because the project/file was set as “invite only” I had to edit its permissions, setting it to “Edit.” I suppose this caused a bit of confusion as to why I needed to do this, considering I was a member of both teams and concern because I didn’t want just anyone to be able to edit it for any period of time.


After changing the permissions to Edit, I was able to move the file by creating a new project in my Professional account. I also confirmed that the file permissions were automatically reset to “can view.” So, I believe I’m all set.
