Hi.
I’m a newbie with figma : )
I use the starter version.
I choosed an object and declared that object via context menu “create component” to a master component.
A day later I like to undo that. The object should not be a master component anymore.
But in the context menu there’s no option to “detach” the master component.
How can I solve that please?
Yes I know, that in starter version it is not possible to detach an instanz of component.
But I just want to remove the status “master component” from my object.
Thanks for your help.
Duplicate the main component, then detach the instance. After that, delete the original main component.
Hey Arip. Thanks for your answer!
I find it surprising that there is no equally quick and direct way to remove the master component property. I am critical of the usability.
Bit tricky for other days case, otherwise simply use undo shortcut.
In my opinion, it is fundamental to good usability practice that any feature that can be assigned must also be able to be removed in the same way. But I'm just saying that in a friendly way. Maybe someone from the company is reading this and would like to reconsider the current behaviour : )
Incidentally, contrary to the statement on
https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038665754-Detach-an-instance-from-the-component,
you can also detach an instance in starter version.
So the steps are:
1 Select element > Create Component
2 Create instance of Component
3 Detach Component
4 Delete Master
