Has the design copy feature in Figma make been disabled?

I started using Figma Make yesterday and subscribed to the Professional plan(full seat).

The design copy feature was working fine at first, but when I checked again today, it seems to be disabled and I can no longer use it.

I’m wondering if this is an issue on my side, or if there was any official announcement from the Figma team regarding this change.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @HSL,

I understand that you’re having trouble using the “Copy Figma Make preview as design layers” feature.

I tested this in my Professional team, and it’s working as expected. To cover the basics, please try the following:

  • If you’re using the browser, reload all Figma tabs.

  • If you’re using the Desktop app, make sure you’re on the latest version and restart the app.

If the issue continues, could you please confirm whether the file where this happens is located in your Professional team?

Figma plans are tied to teams, not individual users, and it seems you have access to both a free Starter team and a Professional team.

If the file is located in your Starter team and you’d like to use this feature, please consider moving the file to your Professional team, since copying a Figma Make preview as design layers is available only on paid plans.

Here are some related guides that might be helpful:

If you confirm that the file is in your Professional team but the issue persists, I recommend submitting a bug report so our team can take a closer look: What to share in a bug report to Figma Support

Thanks,

Hi @Junko3,

Thank you for your response.

When I originally posted this question, the Design Copy feature was disabled, but after checking again today, the button is active and working normally. If there were no issues on your side, it was likely just a temporary local error on my end.

If the issue occurs again, I will submit a bug report to the support team as advised.

Thank you.

I’m having the same problem.

I started using Figma Make yesterday and subscribed to the Professional plan (full seat). The design copy feature (Copy preview as design layers) was working fine at first, but now the Copy design button is greyed out and cannot be used, even though I’m in the Make editor with can edit permission and tried reloading tabs, checking for updates, and moving the file for the team project. Hey @Claudia Loch, thanks for jumping in here, and for giving the troubleshooting steps from @Junko3 a try. I tested this on my end as well, and the copy feature is working as expected — so it does seem that there may be something specific to your setup.

We’re not able to access account-specific details from Figma Forum, but I can see you have a ticket open with our Technical Quality team. Your case number is: 1807422, and they'll follow up at the email tied to your Figma account once they've had a chance to review.

If anything changes or improves in the meantime, please keep us in the loop. 🙏🏻
