Is it possible to have a free Figma Design Seat account to edit projects for how many days?
As a company, we have several Figma licenses, but we need to share projects with external parties who need to edit these projects. Is it possible for them to edit for free for a few days, or will we have to assign them a Full Seat license?
Thanks

Hi @José Cunha , Thanks for reaching out about this.

I understand that you want to provide temporary editing access to external people.

If the admin setting is set to “Manually approve seats,” when they request a seat, they can receive a one-time, 3-day temporary editing access for each paid seat type (Full/Dev/Collab) while the admin reviews their request.

However, if they've already used their temporary editing access for a specific seat type and their request for a permanent seat is denied, they won’t be eligible for temporary access again for that seat type.

For more information, please check the “Seat upgrade and approval flows” section in Updates to Figma's pricing, seats, and billing experience Help Center article.

Thanks again for reaching out!

Is this 3-day temporary edit access free of charge?

Thanks for your reply, and apologies for any confusion.

To clarify, we currently do not offer an option for granting free temporary edit access.

As a workaround, you might consider the option mentioned earlier. However, please be aware that if your admin approves the request, it will incur a charge.

We're also planning to launch a feature called 'connected projects' that will let two different teams, like an agency and a client, work together on a shared project. It's not out yet, but check out this guide for more info. Guide to connected projects

Thanks,

hey @Junko3
I have same concern regarding this setting and wanted to make sure this 3-day temporary edit access it’s free of charge or not?  if not then these 3 days will charge to the owner of the file or what??

Hi there,

Please take a look at the example shown in this screenshot, which you can find in the following Help Center article: Seat upgrade and approval flows

If you still have questions after reviewing the article, feel free to contact our support team directly using this secure form: Submit a request

Thanks!

If seat approval is set to "Manually approve seats," Figma grants temporary editing access for up to 3 days when a user requests a paid seat. During this time, they can edit files they already have access to and create new ones. After 3 days, or once the admin approves or denies the request, access is revoked unless approved. If denied, the user reverts to view/comment-only access.
