“Couldn't access Figma due to a technical error. “ Figma to Wix Studio Import Continues to Fail – Anyone Else Experiencing this This?

I'm hoping someone in the community can help because I've spent several hours troubleshooting this and have completely run out of ideas.

I am attempting to import a Figma design into Wix Studio using the official Figma to Wix Studio plugin. The plugin appears to connect correctly, but the import process consistently fails after approximately 20 seconds.

What Happens

  1. The Figma to Wix Studio plugin opens normally.
  2. The plugin confirms I am logged in.
  3. I click Next.
  4. I paste a valid Figma file URL into Wix Studio.
  5. Wix accepts the URL and begins processing it.
  6. After approximately 20 seconds, Wix displays:

"Couldn't access Figma due to a technical error."

The important part is that Wix initially accepts the URL. If the URL were invalid, I would expect an immediate rejection. Instead, Wix appears to begin processing the file and then fails during the import process .

Additional Observation

The plugin can successfully preview the frame inside Figma before export. This makes me believe the plugin is correctly reading the design.

The failure appears to occur during the transfer between Figma and Wix Studio rather than while reading the file itself.

Questions

  • Has anyone experienced this recently?
  • Is there a known outage or issue with the Figma to Wix Studio integration?
  • Could browser extensions, authentication tokens, or account permissions cause this behavior?
  • Has anyone found a workaround?

At this point, even a completely blank test file fails, which makes me think the issue may be related to the Wix/Figma connection rather than the actual design.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

🟢 UPDATE ISSUED RESOLVED🟢

If Your Figma → Wix Import Suddenly Stopped Working, Read This Before You Lose Your Mind 😅

Hi everyone,

I wanted to come back and share an update because after spending almost 2 full days trying to figure out why Figma suddenly stopped working with Wix Studio, I was genuinely losing my mind. 💀

🟠 The Problem

Wix Studio would accept my Figma URL, start processing the import, and then fail about 20 seconds later.

🟢 The Solution

The issue ended up being a Google Chrome browser/extension conflict. To fix this I uninstalled the Google extensions , closed out all browsers, signed out of all google profiles. I then did testing in an Incognito window re-opened WIX and Figma and it immediately fixed it and started importing files to wix .

-----

Normally I wouldn't write this long post, but if this saves even one person from spending hours of pulling their hair out, it'll be worth it 🤧 💃🏾.

If this ends up helping you,  feel free to drop a “💙” so I know I'm not the only one who's been through this lol ( also Thank you Celine/Figma for the quick response and troubleshooting suggestion.)

-------------------------------------

🟠 The Problem

Wix Studio would accept my Figma file URL ➜ start processing the import ➜ then fail about 20 seconds later.

I also tested multiple figma files, including completely new test files, so naturally I started wondering if there was something wrong with Figma, Wix, the plugin, or my account.

At that point I was convinced I had broken something. 😅

Things I Tried:
• Clearing cache and cookies
• Restarting Chrome and my computer
• Logging out and back into Figma and Wix
• Reinstalling the plugin
• Creating brand-new test files
• Checking file permissions and sharing settings

(Yes... at this point I was questioning all of my life choices. 🥹)

🔵 What Actually Caused It:

Earlier that day, I had installed a few new Chrome extensions, including an HTML-related extension. Shortly afterward, I noticed Google repeatedly asking me to sign back into various accounts shortly after all Figma-to-Wix imports stopped working.

The breakthrough came when I tested everything in a clean Incognito window. The import worked immediately.

🟢 The Solution

The issue wasn't Figma, Wix, my files, or the plugin—It appears to have been caused by a browser profile, cookie/session conflict, or a Chrome extension interfering with authentication between Figma and Wix.

💡 My Recommendation

Before spending hours rebuilding files, reinstalling software, or questioning your career choices 😆, try testing the workflow in:

• An Incognito window
• A clean Chrome profile
• A browser with nonessential extensions disabled

If it suddenly starts working, you've probably found the culprit.

One thing I learned from this experience is that Chrome extensions can be surprisingly powerful. I got excited and started downloading a few because, let's be honest, they're fun and can make life easier. 😅 Unfortunately, all it takes is one extension interfering with cookies, authentication, or browser sessions to create problems that seem completely unrelated.

My advice would be to only keep the extensions you truly use and trust. Not only does it keep your browser running smoother, but it can save you from some very confusing troubleshooting sessions down the road.

Thanks again to the Figma team and everyone who reached out! Hopefully this post helps the next person who finds themselves staring 👀 at an import spinner for hours wondering what went wrong. 💙

Hey @SaritaFBaby , Celine from Figma here! Thanks for reaching out and for the detailed breakdown.

We hear you, and we're sorry to hear the import isn't going through! Since the Figma to Wix Studio plugin is created by Wix (not Figma), you'll want to reach out directly to the plugin's creator for help or to report the issue. You can contact them at jonathant@wix.com (they'll be best placed to investigate and, if needed, report any bugs back to us on the Figma side.)

In the meantime, a few quick things worth trying that may help:
- Log out and back in to both Figma and Wix Studio, then re-authenticate the plugin fresh
- Try in an incognito/private browser window with all extensions disabled
- Try with a different browser entirely

Hope this gets you unblocked soon! 🤞
