I have used figma's free plan for a while, and then upgraded it for convenience (just to be able to remove backgrounds from pictures really) - I paid for the most basic plan they have, I believe? It was 40$ for annual subscription, and it was very convenient for a while. I paid it in February, and today, they have charged me for monthly subscription which was 171$???? I have not upgraded my plan, nor have I changed it from annual to monthly. Maybe I did something wrong, but idk... I am very confused, because I'm not well-versed in design apps, so any help or advice is appreciated :(

Hey @notneome I can see that you were in touch with our Support team (1780968) and that they were able to review your account and resolve the issue.

From what they found, your Collab seat was upgraded to an annual Full seat, which led to a prorated charge.

In Figma there are different ways to upgrade a seat in Figma, and you would either get a notification inside the file browser or receive an email notification, depending on which pathway was followed for the upgrade request.

In your case, it is a self-upgrade resulting from editing a design file. Since you purchased a Collab seat and then edited a design file, you'd have been prompted inside the file to approve the upgrade before being able to edit it.

This is what the notification looks like:

If your team needs full access to Figma Design, we strongly recommend sticking to a Full seat. Not only will you have access to Figma Design, but your team will also have access to all Figma products. See the help center link for reference: How seats work in Figma.
