Figma prototype glitch - text elements not displaying correctly

Emiley_Kight_RYNO

I’m experiencing a glitch where text elements will not display correctly or at all in the prototype. The thing that fixes it is making some kind of change in the element (removing a stroke, changing the color, etc.) and undoing the change. Everything is nested correctly in the frame and it seems to only affect text elements.

I work at a digital marketing agency. This is a huge issue for us because we’re sending our prototypes to our clients and they are missing elements. I’m not allowed to post a video or screenshots as a “new user”. Figma, are you aware of this glitch?

I unfortunately don’t have a solution for you but wanted to mention I’ve experienced this too. I wasn’t able to figure out why the issue occurred, or replicate it in other files. It would just happen.

If you haven’t already, I would encourage you to submit a bug report to Figma so they can inspect your file and see what’s going on.

Hey @Emiley_Kight_RYNO, thanks for reaching out!

@AlicePackard is absolutely right, it’s best to submit a but report. I can submit a support ticket on your behalf. Could you answer me the following question before that please.

Are you seeing any error message on your end? Is it happening in the browser, desktop app or both?

Can you clear out the cache. Here are some information to troubleshoot: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040523973-Troubleshooting-checklist 1

Also please try to force-quit and open Figma in a new browser window (or force-quit the Figma Desktop app and restart it.)

If this does not resolve the issue I can submit a ticket for you and you can share a screen recording with the team and if possible also your file link.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Gayani_S I did submit a bug report with a screen recording but I would appreciate any additional eyes on this issue!

I’m not seeing any error message on either the main file or the prototype. It’s happening in both the browser and the native Mac app. I have tried closing the app and restarting it along with closing my browser and opening it in both a regular and incognito window.

The big issue with this is that we’re sending prototypes to our clients and the clients are seeing these glitches on their local machines and don’t know they are glitches. They just see an ugly design. It can be difficult to troubleshoot with our clients or to know what they’re seeing because the prototype looks different on different machines.

Thank you for assisting here!

Hey @Emiley_Kight_RYNO, thanks for confirming this, I’ll pass this information to the team!

I’ve just located your support ticket and saw that you’ve already received a response from the team. It’ll be helpful for the team to see a screen recording of this issue. Please include the whole window, with the properties and layers panels in view and relevant layers expanded, and select any layers you’re having trouble with so they can check any relevant settings. The support team use these videos to try and reproduce the issue in their own files and so showing all steps needed to reproduce the behavior is helpful.

Also if you can provide a direct link to the file, and invite support-share@figma.com with “can edit” permission so they can look into this further. Note that users with @figma.com emails on your team do not count towards your billing.
