Figma Project Permissions Issue: Team-Level Role Overrides Project Settings

I used to be able to grant view-only permissions on a specific project (folder) to someone who has edit permissions at the team level. Is this no longer possible?

I want to grant only 'can view' access to a specific project, but it seems that 'can edit' permission is being automatically assigned. I'm seeing a tooltip that says, 'This person can still edit, because they have edit permission on the team the file is in.

Hi @Jungsun Jin, thanks for reaching out and apologies for the delayed reply!

This is currently expected. Every member of a team has permissions that control their default access to the team, so despite a person’s permissions on a specific project, they will still have their inherited team permissions. This is because you set a person’s permissions when you first invite them to the team.

To counter this, you can edit this individual’s team permissions then grant them view or edit access to the specific projects, as needed.

More information on Team permissions is available here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039970673-Team-permissions#h_01HKAY6A08ZT1VDHWJVFN0E2HC
