Figma Make template errors

Hey ​@Jason Spidle - would you be able to share edit access to the original template you made? I want to run it by some of our support team to see if they notice any issues.

​@Jason Spidle I am also having the same issue when creating templates in Make. all my guidelines.md, styles folder get deleted so the template will not compile and creates an error due to the missing styles folder. ​@ksn Could you help me with this issue please.

​@James O'Dwyer You can probably PM ​@ksn. I shared my template and devs were supposedly going to look into it. I haven’t heard anything back yet though...

​@Jason Spidle ​@ksn Same issue here, when creating a template and then trying to use it in a new file, it doesnt have all the files that the template has. Even if i manually download the template code and fill in the rest of the files, i get an error “Error: Expected export Code1_145 to be a function, got: undefined”.

And it cant autofix it..

I have a support ticket in with Tech team. So hopefully this will get fixed as it's holding us back. I have come up with a simple start pack though for a user to use in their Make files. Starter pack is just a copy and paste Guidelines.md with a prompt to start: ‘Can you read the guidelines and understand my GDS design system’. Then users can start to use the tool.

I have come across the same issues in terms of the errors appearing. When will this be fixed?

Thanks for your reply. It’s unfortunate that you’re also having some trouble using a Make template. Just to be clear, you’re getting an error message when you try to use a template made with Figma Make, right? Have you clicked the Fix for me button if it shows for you? Some of the issues mentioned in this thread were resolved by our team, so it would be helpful to know what you are seeing with your template as it might be a new issue. 

A couple things you can try right now, though, if you haven’t yet:

1. Remake the template. I’m not sure how long ago you made the template, but try making an new one and testing with that.
2. Check the console for the specific error when trying to use the template, copy it, then go back to the template source file and ask Make there to investigate the error there (e.g. “I get the following error when trying to use this file as a template in another Make file”). It’s possible there’s something with your original file that doesn’t cause an error except when being used separately as a template. To view the console, click on the Console icon on the top right of Figma make; it’s directly to the right of your avatar.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, then I’ll create a support ticket for you with our team to investigate.
