I am not able to open a few of my Figma files. The files are around 8-10 mb. IT just keep trying to import but never loads. Is there any alternate way to open/import my fig files? This is a blocker. I need to think twice now before using Figma in future.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ked

Hi @Ked,

I understand you're having trouble opening your .fig file.

Could you confirm your process? Are you importing your .fig file into your File browser and then trying to open it?

If you haven't tried it yet, please try this:

  1. Open the Figma account you want to import the file to.
  2. Drag the file into the file browser.

Here’s the related article Save a local copy of files

If you're still facing the same issue after that, please send us a video recording of the problem. Also, let us know if this is happening in the browser version, the Figma desktop app, or both.

Thanks!

I tried to Create>Import and drag and drop options, but unfortunately nothing works out for a few selected files. The rest of the files work just as normal as any other fig files. It's happening in both browser as well as desktop versions. I am frustrated beyond control. I need to pass on this issue to our team, it's a very dangerous issue.

Thanks.

Attached the source file saved as a local copy.

Hi Ked, I am working closely with Junko, happy to help!

Thanks for sharing the additional details and the video. This looks odd, sorry to hear the issue is still persisting! I’d recommend having our support team take a closer look directly with your affected files.

I can see that you've already contacted them—your ticket number is #1374696. Please continue the conversation there, and be sure to share a link to the affected files and grant edit access to support-share@figma.com so they can investigate further. Thank you.
