It’s is showing black screen without any error message. I tried to uninstall and clear all the files in file manager and reinstalled it again but still it's not opening
If the Figma Desktop app on Windows is showing a black screen, it's usually due to a compatibility issue between your computer’s graphics card and the app. You may be able to fix the problem by disabling the Prefer High-Performance GPU option.
To do so:
Right-click the Figma icon in your system tray.
Go to Troubleshooting > uncheck the Prefer High-Performance GPU option.
Hi @D.E.N.X — welcome to Figma Forum, and thanks for bringing this up! I’m sorry you’re running into trouble with the Figma Desktop App, and I appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot.
I tested this on my end and didn’t encounter the black screen issue you’re seeing. 🤔 To help narrow things down, could you confirm a few things?
You’re running the latest version of the Figma Desktop App (125.8.8 or later).
Your device’s operating system is up to date.
Does the issue happen in the browser version of Figma as well?
Does this only happen in the file manager or, if have access to a file URL and you’re able to access a file directly, does it open as expected in the browser or desktop version of the app?
If you’re still seeing the problem after checking these, it’s best to have our Product Support team take a closer look. When you have a moment, please reach out to them directly and include:
Q - You’re running the latest version of the Figma Desktop App (125.8.8 or later). A - Yes
Q - Your device’s operating system is up to date. A - Yes, Window and my graphics driver - I checked everything.
Q - Does the issue happen in the browser version of Figma as well? A - No - Web version working fine.
Q - Does this only happen in the file manager or, if have access to a file URL and you’re able to access a file directly, does it open as expected in the browser or desktop version of the app? A - Desktop version not working whether I try to open, Home page or any particular file.

I'm currently experiencing this right now. I tried a lot of things, uninstall/install, update laptop, download figma app and still not showing. Browser is working fine as well.
It became black screen again, but it worked chatting with Fig.
If you can't access the Help menu because the screen is black, you can clear the Figma desktop app cache using your computer's operating system tools.
On Windows: 1️⃣ Force quit the Figma app. 2️⃣ Open the Start menu and type %APPDATA%\Figma, then press Enter. 3️⃣ In the window that opens, delete the Desktop and DesktopProfile folders if they exist. 4️⃣ Launch the Figma app again.
If you're unable to delete the Desktop and DesktopProfile folders, make sure the Figma app is completely closed before trying again.
Check your Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to ensure there are no Figma processes running—if you see any, select them and choose End Task.
After confirming Figma is closed, try deleting the folders again from %APPDATA%\Figma.
If you're seeing a black screen when opening the Figma desktop app, try these steps:
1️⃣ Force-quit the Figma desktop app and restart it. 2️⃣ If the issue persists, clear the app cache by selecting Help in the menu bar, then Troubleshooting > Reset Figma and Restart. 3️⃣ Make sure your computer meets the system requirements: macOS 12 or later, or Windows 11 64-bit. 4️⃣ Check that your graphics card drivers are up to date and that WebGL is enabled on your device.
- Updated my device >> Restart device >> Intalled Figma (run by admin) >> did not work >> removed Figma from Task Manager >> Removed all files in %APPDATA%\Figma (I meant all not just the folders) >> click Figma installer and it worked 🥹🙏
Actually, as of today I am still experiencing this - can someone from Figma team check why this is happening and provide a permanent solution? It really affects productivity, thank you.
