Creating this because all topics I’ve been able to find regarding this have been closed and I think this is essential.

It’s wild that for string, number and boolean variables you can select another of the same type as a value for prototyping, but you can only use HEX code with color variables. Why? 

This makes it impossible to take advantage of modes and aliases, among other functionalities, when creating a prototype.

I haven’t been able to find a plug-in to circumvent this so I would appreciate it if someone’s  willing to share whatever workarounds they’ve been able to find, if any.
