Empty image frames

LZZS

Hello,

I have a file with a lot of images and some of them show up normally, but there is a big part of them which I can’t visualize anymore. They are just empty frames which I can select, but the content can not be seen. It looks like a lot of just not loaded filled frames. Why is it and how can I solve it, get back the pictures.

I’m experiencing the same issue. It’s disrupting my work massively and I’m terrified I’ve lost all those images as I don’t have another way to recover them

Hey everyone, thanks for flagging this!

This might be an image loading issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:

  1. Try these initial fixes:

    • Close and reopen the affected file
    • Close any other open Figma files
    • Check your internet speed and connection
    • If using the desktop app: right-click on the file's tab and select "Reload Tab"
    • If using Figma in browser: quit and relaunch your browser
  2. This could also be related to how Figma handles image resolution:

    • Figma stores both high-resolution and low-resolution versions of images
    • High-resolution images only load in your current viewport
    • Images outside your view may appear blurry initially
    • The system will load high-resolution versions as you explore the file

If these steps don't resolve the issue, you can also:
Review the file's version history to check if the images are present in earlier versions
- Check if any browser extensions (like ad blockers) are interfering with image loading

Let me know if you need any clarification on these steps or if the issue persists after trying them.

Hello,

thanks for the answer, but I fear it didn’t help me. I tried everything, but the images still stay empty. This is so much work I cannot have lost everything. The weird thing, is that they appear with their number on the layer panel, but stay not visible on the canvas. Just selectable from the bottom, when selecting an area.

Please, is there something that can be done?

Even just a way to quickly recover them, replace or reimport them without loosing hours and hours of work.

Hey @LZZS, thank you for following up!

I’ve gone ahead and created a support ticket so our team can take a closer look at what’s causing the images to disappear and see if there’s any way to recover them. Your support ticket number is #1575919 for reference.

To help us investigate more effectively, please share a link to the affected file and invite support-share@figma.com with “Can edit” permission. This allows our team to review the file, users with @figma.com emails don’t count toward your billing.

@rroseg_ sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue too. I’ll keep an eye on the ticket and keep you updated on the outcome of it!

We really appreciate your patience while we look into this, let me know if you have any further questions!

Hey @rroseg_! At the moment, the investigation on the support ticket I filed earlier hasn’t been able to move forward because we still haven’t received a link to the affected file. If you’re open to it, the best next step is to submit a support ticket through this form and include a link to the file where the issue is happening. Please also invite support-share@figma.com with “Can edit” permissions, @figma.com emails won’t count toward your billing.

Feel free to reference this forum thread so the team immediately has the full context.

We definitely want to help you get this resolved.

Hello, I cant reach your link, but I have submitted a request from the page ‘submit a request’ again, which I thought I already did. Maybe it hadn’t been sent through.

Support team figma should now also have the invitation to edit the file, I hope you recieved it. Letme know if this is not the case.

Thanks
