I have an education Figma plan that I use as a beginner but now I want to switch to the free Figma plan. Can anybody please tell me that if it is a good decision or not? and Will I lose my current files?

Hi @Himanshu_Digwal - wanted to chime in and offer some thoughts. To start, I wanted to give an overview of our student teams in general.
If you have a team that’s verified as an education/student one, you basically have the same features our professional plan offers at no cost to you.
Your student status lasts 2 years from when you are originally approved. As you approach the 2 year mark, you will receive reminder emails from us alerting you that your student status is expiring.
With all that said, if you decide that you want to convert your student team back to a free one, you should consider the following:
- File limit: On the Starter plan, your team can have three FigJam files and three Figma design files with a maximum of three pages per design file. You can invite as many people as you want to view or edit these files. If you have more than the allowed number of files in your team when you convert back to free, Figma will prevent you from being able to edit your files. - Project limit: On a Starter plan, your team will have one project. If your team has more than one project when you downgrade, Figma will lock your team and prevent you from editing your files. To keep editing, you’ll need to reorganize your files and projects so they are under those limits. Learn more about moving projects and moving files →
In the case you revert back to having your team be a free one, your won’t lose your files in the sense that they will be deleted. You may, however, be locked out of the team the files live in unless you follow the steps provided above to move your files/projects as needed.
While I can’t really say whether or not moving back to free is the best idea for you specifically, I do think that it may be worthwhile to enjoy the features of your student plan until it expires.
