Duplication of identical columns in Fig Buzz's Bulk Edit

Hi there, I’m troubleshooting building a suite of evergreen ad campaign assets in Buzz. The only things that should ever need to change are the copy for my offer and the brand logo featured.

As I poured over the assets from a prebuilt library, I’m noticing that some of the title copy (that will never need to be edited) has differentiated itself in the bulk edit spreadsheet, in spite of being identical to its siblings.

The right-hand column “flash offer” randoms should be living in the column to the left.

It doesn’t look like there’s a way for me to brute-force this by pasting them into the proper column. What could I have done wrong to make them separate like this, and how can I avoid it as I try to build this suite for my team? There are quite a few assets with this issue and I’d like to fix it entirely rather than just hide both columns. TIA

Hey @Elly_A - thanks for posting and checking in on this. Off the top of my head, I’m not sure on how to avoid/fix this 🤔 I’m checking in with the team that works on Buzz and will update you when I get more info!

Thank you!! FWIW I went back to those errant artboards and copied/pasted the headline from a “good” one, as if to replace it. It didn’t change anything unfortunately.

Hey @Elly_A! I just spoke with one of our engineers, and they would need to take a look at the file to see how the template is structured.

I can’t guarantee a quick resolution, but would you be willing to share a view-only copy of the template? I can forward that to them to review.

For sure. Just let me know who to add to the file.

You can share to support-share@figma.com -- if you can then provide me the name and direct link to the file (you can DM this to me or post it here), I’ll get this forwarded.

Thank you!

Hey @Elly_A - update for you:

I spoke with our engineering team, and one member mentioned that they found one of your styles has a layer group around everything except the 'Flash Offer' text node, while another one of your styles doesn't have that group at all. Since we generate column names based on layer hierarchy, Buzz sees those two setups as different, which is why it's placing them in separate columns.

Try modifying the layer group structure to be consistent across all of your styles — once the hierarchy matches, Buzz should those text nodes as the same and merge them into a single column. Let me know how it goes!
