does anyone know why this happens?
Whenever I apply a drop shadow effect to a PNG there’s this kind of weird contour around the object.

Hey,
If you click on the Effect Settings button (the little sun) in the Effects section of the Design pane on the right, then you will see a checkbox “show behind transparent areas”
Try checking that.
You can see that the drop shadow on my pink flower behaves better on the (horrible, sorry) green background.
