Drag interaction doesn't respond vertically - only horizontally

trying to create a vertical slider with drag animation encountered several problems:

1. the animation works only one way.
2. seems to be triggered only by horizontal drag.
3. It also seems like it’s triggered only by a starting point and end point and doesn’t feel intuitive and control-able as I drag.
